Which exam boards do you cover for GCSE and A-Level Maths?+
All three major UK boards — Edexcel (Pearson), AQA and OCR — for both GCSE 9–1 Maths and A-Level Maths / Further Maths. Lessons follow your child's exact specification and mark scheme.
Do you teach A-Level Further Maths?+
Yes — Further Maths is one of my specialist areas, including topics like matrices, complex numbers, differential equations, polar coordinates and decision maths. I also support university-level engineering mathematics.
Can a Maths tutor help my child catch up if they've fallen behind?+
Absolutely — most students I work with start because they've fallen behind in class. We rebuild from the topic where things last made sense, then close the gap topic-by-topic at a sustainable pace. Confidence usually returns within the first month.
What is the difference between GCSE Foundation and Higher tier Maths?+
Foundation tier caps at Grade 5; Higher tier caps at Grade 9 but starts at Grade 3. We look at predicted grades and target schools to choose the right tier — and we can move tiers later if the student is progressing faster than expected.
Do you help with KS2 SATs Maths?+
Yes — Year 5 and Year 6 students get focused SATs preparation including arithmetic paper drills, reasoning paper technique, and full mock papers under timed conditions in the spring term.
How long does it take to improve a Maths grade?+
Most students see noticeable improvement within 6–8 weeks of consistent weekly lessons. A full grade boundary jump (e.g. 5 to 7 at GCSE) typically takes one to two terms with regular homework completion.
